A piece of faraway territories

Philately is one of the activity of the TAAF with more than 600 stamps emitted since 1995. Each collection counts between 12 and 15 stamps of various facial values. Besides these emissions, some commemorative stamps can be emitted to illustrate an event, a birthday, a character or a demonstration.

These stamps can be used only from the TAAF territories. The mails are conveyed to the subantarctic bases or in the Scattered islands by boat or by plane to be stamped “in situ” before returning in the classical postal circuit. It is a piece of these faraway territoriess which the recipients of these envelopes discover. Stamps and seals are coveted by the collectors.

photo rdv philatelieA the occasion of our amateur radio expedition, a commemorative stamp will be published. On Monday, April 14, we met the Director of the philately of the TAAF and the artist charged to illustrate it. At the time of this interview, we presented amateur radio and we gave several documents exposing our activities.

This stamp will be put on sale during the autumn philatelic exhibition of Paris (from November 6th to November 9th – Espace Champeret). This demonstration and our expedition being concomitant, an animation will be proposed within the TAAF space during these 3 days. In answer to the invitation launched by the TAAF, some members of the Provins radio-club will set-up a radio station and present amateur radio through QSL cards. They will perform twice a day a radio contact with our team in Tromelin.

We currently request the authorizations from the organizers. We will keep you posted.

A surprise will be announced soon.
